I took the plunge and invested over $3,000 in the Galaxy Z TriFold. Join me on this journey as I put it to the test and share my live experiences.
On January 30th, my colleagues and I embarked on a mission to secure a highly sought-after item. It wasn't your typical sneaker release or concert ticket hunt; we were after a phone, but not just any phone. It was Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that had already created a buzz and sold out in minutes in other regions. With its $2,900 price tag and limited availability, we anticipated a similar frenzy upon its US release.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is so exclusive that Samsung didn't provide review units to CNET or other journalists, a stark contrast to their usual practice for new phone launches. This scarcity drove us to be among the first to try and purchase it.
As the clock struck 7 a.m. Pacific Time, the race began. Four of my teammates and I navigated the online purchase process for Samsung's dual-folding phone. It was a tense moment, and almost immediately, everyone encountered a sold-out message—except for me.
Luck was on my side that day, and I successfully added the Galaxy Z TriFold to my cart, completing the transaction for a total of $3,164.05, including taxes and a California Battery Recycling Fee. It was a game of chance, and I was the lucky winner.
Now, the real adventure starts. I'm excited to share my thoughts and experiences as I integrate the Galaxy Z TriFold into my daily life. I had a brief hands-on experience with the phone during CES, but now, I'll truly put it through its paces and see if it lives up to its promise as a practical phone-tablet hybrid.
Is the 6.5-inch cover display versatile enough for everyday tasks? Will I adapt to the feel of the folded phone, or will the three stacked panels prove cumbersome? Does the 10-inch internal display enhance multitasking and productivity?
I'll be exploring these questions and more in this blog. Stay tuned for my ongoing thoughts and insights as I navigate this unique device. And remember, with technology, it's always a journey of discovery!
